Why are you running?

During a township trustee meeting several months ago, the fire chief was giving a report of the department’s activities over the past month. He noted that there had been hundreds of runs by the fire trucks and EMS units and that they had used narcan 150 times on individuals who had overdosed on opioids. After hearing these alarming statistics, one of the trustees proceeded to call the firemen in the room clowns. I was shocked at how disrespectful our elected officials were to the firefighters who were saving lives and protecting our community and knew that I had do something about it—so I decided to run.

What are the most important issues on your campaign?

  1. Creating Local Jobs: Franklin Township has great potential with its central location. Yet our community lacks the leadership needed to tap into opportunities for new businesses. From developing the area around the casino to recruiting new small businesses and restaurants, we must be a welcoming community that creates a friendly business environment and offers good-paying jobs.
  2. Support Our Police and Fire: When you pick up the phone to report a crime or medical emergency, our residents need to know that our public servants are reporting for duty and have
the equipment needed to do the job. As the opioid epidemic continues to plague our streets, we need the best medical response team waiting to save lives and a strong police presence to curb the use of illegal drugs.
  3. Protect Our Community: As state cuts continue to devastate the Franklin Township budget and the City of Columbus annexes key areas of our community for their economic gain, we need our Township Trustees who will be a strong voice for our neighborhoods and fight to protect our community. We must build better relationships with Franklin County and the State of Ohio, so Franklin Township can grow and receive the support and respect our residents deserve.

Give us a fun fact about yourself.

I once visited all 88 counties in Ohio on a statewide road trip promoting Young Dems.

Who is your favorite president? Why?

My favorite President is Theodore Roosevelt for his aggressive actions to protect our natural resources and create National Parks across the country.

What’s your favorite food on the campaign trail? Why?

I’d like to say that my favorite food on the campaign trail is an apple because it is healthy, cool, crisp, and refreshing after a few hours of canvassing in the summer heat, but in reality it’s a piece of pizza.

If you could be a superhero, who would you be? Why?

Star-Lord from Guardians for the Galaxy because I would have to have an awesome mix-tape to save the world.

If you were a professional athlete what song would you choose to be your “walk out” song?

Stronger by Kanye West

What was your first paid job?

My first paid job was for a neighborhood pizza joint. I started doing dishes and building pizza boxes. It turned out that my persuasive skills made me ideal at selling sodas and deserts, so I was promoted to work the phone system and manage ordering.

How can young dems help in your race?

Young Dems can help my race by donating online at aryehalex.com or by volunteering to go canvassing with our campaign this fall.
