Why are you running?

I believe every mom and dad in our community should know when they send their son or daughter off to our schools, their students will receive the best education and school experience possible.

What are the most important issues on your campaign?

We need to continue to invest in our South-Western City School District so that our students have clean and safe learning environments that our community can be proud of and will encourage economic development and job creation in our neighborhoods.

We need to make sure we offer the best educational experience to ensure that all students are ready for college or the work force. In an increasingly connected world, we need children who are familiar with the tools that allow them to live and learn in it. That is why we need to have modern technology in our classrooms and more investment for career and technical programs.

We need to create additional opportunities for our parents to be involved in the lives of their students and find ways for our community leaders to help mentor our young students as well. A better partnership between the community and our schools will improve student outcomes and make them feel connected to something greater than themselves.

Give us a fun fact about yourself.

I’ve had the honor of not just working to elect and meet President Obama, but I was given a great opportunity to drive his senior staff in the motorcade when he launched his 2012 campaign.

Who is your favorite president? Why?

It would have to be President Barack Obama. He was a man who understood the power of hope and the need to unite the country during troubling times. History will look back on President Obama as a respected statesman, a good family man and someone who inspired a nation to give back in service in every way possible.

What’s your favorite food on the campaign trail? Why?

Peanut M&Ms – why not? I mean… come on… they are peanuts, chocolate and a thin candy shell. Does it get any better than that?

If you could be a superhero, who would you be? Why?

Definitely Batman. Except he has a very elitist 1% attitude as Bruce Wayne. I would like to be a working-class batman. Day job as a janitor but at night keeping our streets safe.

If you were a professional athlete what song would you choose to be your “walk out” song?

"City of Blinding Lights" by U2

What was your first paid job?

Working at a funeral home.

How can young dems help in your race?

KNOCK DOORS. Then knock more doors. And then come back and knock doors again.
