Get to Know 2017 Endorsed Candidate ... Morgan Marie Masters
Name: Morgan Marie Masters (MMM)
Office you’re seeking: Judge, Franklin County Municipal Court
Are you an incumbent? No
Why are you running?
I’ve been a lawyer in the courtroom for eleven years now; I’m a prosecutor and a magistrate, and I used to be a defense attorney. Good judges are knowledgeable about the law and experienced in trial work. Great judges are those things, but also empathetic, patient, caring, and fair-minded. I’m running for judge because I know I can be a great judge, and I want to use my legal expertise to be a public servant. In municipal court, we encounter people sometimes beginning down a path of crime, and we have the opportunity to redirect them. I truly believe every person, regardless of race, religion, etc., deserves a chance, and a fair shake at justice, and I’m running for this office to provide just that: equal justice.
Give us a fun fact about yourself.
One of my favorite hobbies is building furniture; I love to draw up plans, and spend time in my garage with my saws bringing my vision to life.
Who is your favorite president? Why?
OBAMA!!! He led with integrity, and he is truly a role model and a leader. I also believe that you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep; his wife is an awesome human being, and I think that’s because he is, too.
What’s your favorite food on the campaign trail? Why?
Food? I hardly get to eat on the campaign trail! When I do, it’s usually a quick run into Chipotle at 8:30 p.m.
If you could be a superhero, who would you be? Why?
She Hulk, because she’s an empathetic and kind lawyer, who’s charitable and strong.
If you were a professional athlete what song would you choose to be your “walk out” song?
"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar.
What was your first paid job?
Activities aide at a nursing home; I got paid to play bingo and cards with the residents, paint the ladies’ nails, and hang out with them.
