Why are you running?

I was inspired by the thoughtful, compassionate, and highly efficient way in which my mentor, Judge Nancy A. Fuerst, served on the Common Pleas bench during my three-year term as her judicial staff attorney. I learned that I could use my diverse litigation background, and inherent leadership skills to serve my community and administer justice fairly and effectively. I know I have the temperament to make the often life-altering decisions for the individuals who come before the court, and that I will treat each of them with the compassion and concern they deserve.

What are the most important issues on your campaign?

I am really eager to help bring the Cleveland Heights Municipal Court into our modern era and make the Court more accessible to the public. Individuals should be able to access their up-to- date case information online. They should also be able to reach the appropriate personnel to help them resolve their issues and answer their questions more readily by having a complete court directory listing all of the court’s support staff and contact information.

We also have to specialize the way in which cases are handled: from taking advantage of Drug Court programs for non-violent offenders, to reorganizing a Housing Court, and finally to moving away from a cash bail system. The court should evolve with society, both from the administrative side to the way in which justice is administered.

Give us a fun fact about yourself.

I am a yoga teacher! I started practicing yoga in law school, to deal with stress...and I haven’t stopped since. I’m the annoying person telling everyone “you need yoga” to solve basically any problem they have.

Who is your favorite president? Why?

Barack Obama. He served with dignity and grace and had a humility that helped him reach individuals who were otherwise uninterested in the political process. He brought people together.

What’s your favorite food on the campaign trail? Why?

It’s so bad, but I often forget to eat on the campaign trail...so it’s usually just a coffee from Phoenix on Coventry or a smoothie from Liquid Planet for me!

If you could be a superhero, who would you be? Why?

Wonder Woman. Have you seen my logo???

If you were a professional athlete what song would you choose to be your “walk out” song?

This question is so tough! I am a music lover, so it’s hard to just pick one song! I’d probably pick something funny to catch people off guard- like “Skokiaan” by Louis Armstrong.

What was your first paid job?

JCPenney- selling shoes ala Al Bundy.

How can young dems help in your race?

Get out the vote! OYD can help engage our community to remember to vote even in these off years, during non-presidential elections. Judicial candidates often see a drop in votes because a lot of voters simply don’t go down the ballot, and stop when they get to judicial candidates. We can help excite our constituents and inform them about the importance of choosing good judges!
